Advisory: ZipInfo Alignment to Melissa Products - Effective: March 10, 2025

Melissa plans to sync the delivery method of ZipInfo product updates sent to customers to the same method that our other products use for the upcoming update scheduled to release March 10, 2025.

Why are we changing the way ZipInfo products are delivered?

  • Melissa took over the production and maintenance of ZipInfo products on January 1, 2023 with the plan to eventually streamline and migrate to our existing process of providing product updates.

How will the monthly downloads be available?

Monthly downloads will continue to be available on the ZipInfo website as they have been in the past until August 1, 2025.

  • Existing ZipInfo Process: ZipInfo customers are sent a username and password by email, which allows them to authenticate on the ZipInfo site and download the purchased product. The username and password change from month to month.

  • Melissa Process: Melissa customers have their own username and password, which do not change unless a password reset is requested. When customers log in to their portal, they can download the products they have a subscription for. An automated email is also sent to specified emails on the account with a product download link with each update.

  • Melissa Updater: Automate your downloads using Melissa Updater. This is only available to monthly subscribers.

What is changing?

  • Folder and files:

    • All data files have been consolidated into one zip folder for easy download, and the folder name has been updated to make it easier to identify the product being downloaded, as well as the version in YearMonth (YYYYMM) format.

      • For example, with the current system, the ZipList5 Lite product (z5lite.zip) must be downloaded manually from the ZipInfo website using a provided username and password. The new method enables users to simply click the provided link to automatically download the updated ZipList5 Lite file (ZipList5Lite_202502.zip). The file folder name clearly shows both the product and the version, making it easy for users to know exactly what they are downloading and which update they are receiving.
    •
    • Removing Paradox (*.db), dBase (*.dbf), and Access (*.accdb) file formats. Since most modern software will import .CSV, we will no longer provide the product in Paradox (.db), dBase (.dbf), or Access (.accdb) file formats. If this creates a problem for you, then please contact your account executive to let us know and we will work with you to find a solution.

  • Data alignment. – Effective: April 7, 2025

    • ZipInfo products will be syncing to Melissa products to provide the latest accurate data available. The April 2025 update will include changes to County Names, Latitude and Longitude, as well as City Names. These changes will be reflected in the Release Notes; however, please contact
tech support if you would like the February 2025 comparison file.

Thank you for your continued support; please contact your account executive with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
The Melissa Team
