Melissa Data Now Returns EIRCodes

In July of 2015, Ireland launched a new postal code system
called EIRCode. This system was designed to improve their postal data quality
by assigning a unique postal code to each individual address. As this new
postal code system is starting to gain adoption, Melissa Data has made the
decision to partner with EIRCode and make the investment in this new data
source in order to provide our customers with the newest and highest quality
data for Ireland.

We have been hard at work implementing a new address verification engine around
this new data set, and we are happy to announce that it will be available
for public use on January 30th, 2017.
To continue providing the best
combination of value and quality, Melissa Data has decided to provide this new
high quality Ireland data as standard for all of our address verification
customers without any add-on costs.

This premium data update will affect both the Global Address
Web Service, used for full address validation and correction as well as the
Global Express Entry Web Service, used for address search and completion. Starting
on January 30th, 2017, both of these services will be able to append, as well
as use, the new EIRCode data.
From a high level, the new EIRCode system is
an addition to their old postal system and not a replacement. This means that
you do not have to worry about keeping two different versions of the address.
Instead, the old system does not have postal code while the new system does.
