Product Advisory – SSIS Integration on Azure Data Factory (ADF)

Written by Melissa Team | Jun 26, 2025 6:32:57 PM

We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone: Melissa’s full SSIS product stack is now officially supported on Azure Data Factory (ADF). Beginning immediately, both Web Service and On-Premise SSIS components can be executed in the cloud—empowering you to modernize your ETL workflows without disrupting your existing development processes.

What Is SSIS Integration on Azure Data Factory (ADF)?

With this release, you can continue designing SSIS packages in Visual Studio exactly as before, then deploy and run them within ADF’s SSIS Integration Runtime (IR). This hybrid approach delivers:

  • Minimal to zero changes to your existing SSIS packages or development workflow

  • Seamless support for both Web Service (cloud API) and On-Premise SSIS components

  • Azure-hosted execution for enhanced scalability, centralized management, and reduced infrastructure overhead

  • Simplified infrastructure—no need to maintain on-premises SSIS servers

What Kind of Changes Should We Expect?

  • No functional changes to your SSIS packages

  • Improved performance and scaling courtesy of Azure’s SSIS-IR

  • Identical package behavior—packages targeting Melissa’s components run the same in ADF

Are Any Code Changes Needed?

Your existing SSIS packages mostly do not need to be rewritten or restructured — they can be deployed to Azure Data Factory as they are.

For On-Premise components, there may be a quick setup step to help the components find their required data files in Azure File Share.

Once that's done, your packages will function just like they always have — but now with the added benefits of Azure's scalability and flexibility.
