Melissa Sponsors Two $1500 Scholarships to be Awarded by the Woman’s Club of Playa del Rey

The ‘address expert’ backs philanthropic club’s mission to support local female students in pursuit of higher education

Rancho Santa Margarita, CALIF – March 6, 2024 – Melissa, a leading provider of global data quality, identity verification, and address management solutions, today announced sponsorship of two $1500 STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) scholarships to be awarded by the Woman’s Club of Playa del Rey.
 
The scholarships will be awarded to low-income female seniors with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher from Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets High School (WESMHS), St. Bernard High School, St. Mary’s Academy, Venice High School, Notre Dame Academy, or Inglewood High School. Applications are available from counselors at the aforementioned schools and must be submitted with all supporting information by April 5, 2024.

“We have long championed students in technical fields, recognizing that the drive to succeed requires real-world financial support,” said Ray Melissa, president and founder of Melissa. “We appreciate the philanthropy of the Woman’s Club of Playa del Rey, and it is our pleasure to support local efforts to increase access to education.”

Those selected as scholarship recipients will be required to provide a letter of acceptance from the college they plan to attend. They will then receive their award at a luncheon in May, where they will share a presentation reflecting on their personal educational journey. The Woman’s Club of Playa del Rey is a 501(c)(3) organization devoted to improving the lives of those in the local community through volunteer activities and projects, fundraising events, and educational awareness. Its scholarship activities are funded by local business donations and 100 percent of proceeds from its annual Maker’s Market which features local artisans, small businesses, and restaurants.
