Following this year's datathons, Melissa Education had the pleasure of hosting students at their Rancho Santa Margarita headquarters on May 8th for an afternoon filled with career preparation and industry insight. The visit offered participants a chance to go beyond the event setting and gain a more personal introduction to Melissa and our data-driven work.
A key aspect of the visit was dedicated to enhancing students' professional preparedness through mock interviews and a career Q&A session with Melissa's staff. Students were able to practice responding to interview questions, obtain direct feedback and ask questions about career paths in data, analytics, GIS, technology and sales. These discussions provided practical advice while helping participants gain confidence for upcoming internships and professional opportunities.
The afternoon also provided students with time to enjoy refreshments and engage informally with members of the Melissa team. These discussions offered students the opportunity to learn more about the company, ask follow-up questions, and gain a deeper understanding of how Melissa supports data quality, verification and innovation across various industries.
One of the visit's highlights was the chance for students to meet Melissa's CEO, Ray Melissa. Engaging with company leadership provided an added perspective into Melissa’s mission, long-term vision and dedication to nurturing emerging talent. It was a valuable opportunity for students to hear directly from leadership.
Students had the chance to go behind the scenes with a tour of Melissa’s server rooms, offering a closer look at the infrastructure that powers our work. For many attendees, this was an opportunity to see the operational side of a data and tech company firsthand.
The office visit was an extension of the datathon experience, giving students a chance to continue learning in a more direct and practical setting. From interview preparation and career conversations to meeting Melissa's leadership and touring our technical facilities, that afternoon reflected Melissa Education’s ongoing commitment to students.
